Starting with PCB

If you are familiar with my posts, you can see that i have been making PCB for my projects that turns out to be quite good. If you have not seen the posts, make sure to check it by clicking in the Arduino drone section in the tab above. I have made the PCB for my homemade drone project. The old way of doing it was as follows:
  • Design the PCB using a software.
  • Select only the top later and export it as PDF.
  • print the PDF into actual size on a sticker paper using laser printer
  • Buy copper clad plate and cut it to size.
  • Transfer the circuit from the sticker paper to the copper board using heating iron
  • Place the board in water and remove the sticker gently,
  • Put the board in etching solution and wait until all the unwanted copper are removed
  • do a continuity test to check for shorts
  • apply a solder mask
  • Place in UV light
  • remove unwanted solder.
This list seems long list and takes a lot of time to manufacture this by hand. Plus, you can't add a proper silk layer to mark the components. The tracks are sometime not perfect and have to make a lot of adjustments. It takes a lot of time, trial and errors, and patience to get a good outcome. Moreover, it cost me around $4 to make a single 10 cm x 10 cm single side PCB. I also tried double sided PCB but did not achieved the desired outcome.

It is a dream for engineers and hobbyist to have a professional PCB to improve their electronics project. Hopefully, there is a professional manufacturer for it which can offer this professional service, PCBWay.

You can get your professional PCB with just some few clicks and avoiding the manufacturing process on your own and the results are honestly perfect.

PCBWay does it all for you

The PCBWay covers all the manufacturing process for you. The best part is the you can have 5 or 10 PCBs for just $5. It is amazing how we are a getting such professional product at such an affordable price.

Preparing your design

I am using EasyEDA to design the circuit. I am currently working on a mini homemade Arduino qua copter for my next project and i have sent the design to PCBway.

Once you prepared your design, export it as a Gerber file as shown below. The Gerber files contains all the components of the design that is used to make the PCB.

Once your Gerber file has been generated, go to the PCBWay website to send the Gerber file for PCB prototyping.

Before sending the file, please make sure to create your account with just some few steps. One created, move to the PCB instant quote section.
